Battlefield 6 is revamping the series with a return to its roots in a modern setting, scheduled to release in 2025. The upcoming game is embracing a "back to basics" approach, featuring massive 64-player maps and a classic class system, ditching the specialist roles for a more traditional gameplay experience. According to Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn and Group GM for EA Studios Organization, the team's goal is to master the fundamentals that made Battlefield 3 and 4 so beloved.
